Toledo has a population of approximately 3,680 and is situated on a bend of the Yaquina River and surrounded by wooded hills. Toledo is just seven miles inland from the Central Oregon Coast and the only inland coastal community with a deep water channel. The historic town cascades over the hillsides to the river.The MISSION of the Toledo City Government is to provide efficient, economical and necessary public services that protect and enhance the quality of life in Toledo, now and in the future, as determined by our citizens, the law and available resources
2008 Toledo Scarecrow Festival
The Toledo Hometown Committee and the Toledo Chamber of Commerce presents the 2008 fourth annual Scarecrow Festival (Oct 21 - 31). Individuals, groups and businesses are invited to create an original scarecrow display and place it outside in plain view in a public area along Business Hwy 20 or Main Street. All scarecrow displays must be suitable for family viewing. Participants are also encouraged to use weather resistant materials and or recyclable materials. Cash prizes donated by the Toledo Hometown Committee and the Toledo Chamber of Commerce are $100 for first place $75 for 2nd and $50 for 3rd. All displays will be judged on originality. Scarecrows should be in place and entry form submitted to City hall by Oct. 24. Judging will take place on Oct. 25, and winners announced on Oct. 26.
