The Toledo Fire Department (TFD) provides emergency response and services to the City of Toledo and the surrounding community. Services include: 

  • Fire protection
  • Medical services
  • Disaster management

The TFD is closed when an emergency is in progress. If you need immediate assistance, the Police Department is open 24 hours a day and can contact the Fire Department Duty Officer for you. The Police Department is located at 250 W (Business) Highway 20. 


Volunteers

The TFD consists of four city employees and approximately 40 volunteers. Volunteers are an integral part of the organization. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer fire fighter please call 541-336-3311. 


History

April 3, 1896 Toledo City Council meeting
It was suggested that fire protection was needed in the unincorporated City of Toledo.

March 29, 1901 in a citizen town meeting
The citizens of Toledo took steps to organize a fire department.

May 13, 1901 Toledo City Council meeting
A resolution was introduced and approved to accept the organization of the Toledo Fire Department.
