General Duties Performs specialized clerical duties dealing with utility accounts, other accounts receivable, municipal court, and receptionist work. Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the City Treasurer. Statement of Overall Objectives: To function effectively, the Utility Clerk must meet the overall objectives: 1. Follows the established City of Toledo policies and procedures at all times. 2. Maintains effective working relationships with other city departments and staff in order to promote a cooperative and team spirit within the organization. 3. Maintains a professional image and positive public relations. 4. Works independently and is a good time manager. 5. Keeps confidential certain materials and conversations. Examples of Primary Duties: 1. Processes and posts the City’s utility accounts including billings, collections, balancing and updating of accounts. 2. Receptionist duties including counter work and the telephone. 3. Distributes incoming City mail. 4. Daily balancing of cash and bank deposits. 5. Municipal Court Clerk duties including the following: a. prepares court agendas and citations for court sessions b. schedules and sends notice of arraignments, trials and hearings c. processes notices of convictions and suspensions to the Motor Vehicles Department d. collects fines and prepares reports e. attends court sessions f. maintains the docket book as the City’s permanent court record 6. Assists with business licensing, amusement licensing, and other office projects as assigned. Other Tasks: Performs other related duties as assigned. Desired Experience and Training: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience. 3. Working knowledge and skills with computers, electronic data processing, spreadsheets and database programs. 4. Skill in operating the following equipment: 10-key calculator, multi-line telephone system with voice mail, fax and copy machine. 5. Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish successful working relationships; ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruption. Hours 32 hours per week. Salary Union negotiated salary range of $12.51 to $14.79 per hour depending upon experience with a cost of living increase of 3.3% on July 1st. Position accrues six hours of sick leave and six hours of paid vacation each month, eligible to be taken after the probation period. Employee medical and dental benefits. PERS retirement program. SALARY RANGE: $2,864-$3,443 monthly - Lateral Only Position: This is a uniformed police position responsible for general police duties and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The position performs law enforcement activities, which include, but are not limited to: Protection of life and property Routine and detailed investigations into criminal and civil matters Locating and preserving physical evidence Enforcing city and state traffic laws Issuing verbal and written warnings Special investigative and undercover assignments when required Writing reports and other documents Making court appearances and giving testimony May be given assignments as required by the Chief of Police To Qualify: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, be a high school graduate, DPSST certified preferred, be able to complete and pass a 12th grade level, reading, writing and math test required by DPSST, possess a valid driver’s license as required by the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, have a good driving history, have no felony convictions and be in good physical health. Selection Criteria: Applicants will be initially screened on the basis of their prior related work experience, training and education. Candidates with previous police officer work experience or related work experience will be considered for position vacancies first. Top ranking candidates will be selected for an oral interview. Appointment will be based upon a physical agility test, the oral interview, a written test and a background investigation. |

SALARY RANGE: $2,486 to $2,950 JOB RESPONSIBITIES: Operates police, fire and emergency medical radio equipment; dispatches police, fire, and medical. Answers telephone, receives incident reports, assigns proper information to patrol and other responding units, makes records checks, operates computer terminal and performs a variety of clerical and record keeping duties. Maintains communication between communication center and field units; dispatches units and responds to requests for appropriate aid. Maintains logs on all center activities.
