Traffic calming measures include the use of devices and techniques that reduce traffic volume and speed in neighborhoods while maintaining maximum mobility and access.
The City Council is considering municipal code standards that address "quick build" measures that can be deployed at relatively low costs. Examples include hi-visibility crosswalks, curb extension, crossing islands, traffic circles, chicanes, diverters, turn-calming at intersections, speed humps, or speed cushions. Other measures might be installed through a more detailed evaluation process.
The Proposed Ordinance is scheduled for discussion at Toledo City Council on July 15, 2026. The City Council meeting begins at 6:00 pm and will be held at Toledo City Hall, 206 N Main Street, Toledo.
